After an arduous day of travel, the girls played their first match today - You'd never have guessed they'd spent nearly a full 24 hours in transit the day prior as they came out looking ready to go and got the victory with a 3-0 win.
The girls headed back to their room and prepared to move to a different building after news of a theft - which included moving bedding and mattresses and suitcases down stairs, down the lane and up the stairs... the good news is nicer room, nicer building, no more having to walk to the shower down the road.
This evening, we attended the Opening Ceremony for Gothia Cup. The Ullevi stadium was seated to capacity with 52,000 in attendance. We saw an introduction of the 80 countries represented in the tournament with each country waving their flag. Great live music, dancing, fireworks, and TONS of national pride. The girls were the center of attention in their U.S. attire, carrying the American Flag. They were the subject of many a photo session with boys from around the world - Every chaperones dream!!!

Another game day... the girls played a Norwegian team and again were victorious with a 6-0 win!!!
After several hours of preparation (hair, makeup, numerous costume changes...) the girls headed to the Gothia Cup Disco where they waited in line with the other 5000 attendees for nearly 2 hours. They spent about 20 minutes in the club, which was hot, loud and stinky before coming out to be escorted back to their home base.
