We arrived in Goteburg, Sweden yesterday after a very long journey. We were all too wiped to blog so sending a quick snapshot of Day 1 tonight.
The journey...21 hours in the company of friends -
We caravanned to the airport at 6:00 am on Saturday morning - Even with arriving more than 2 hours early had just enough time to grab a quick bite, take a departing photo and board our flight. Tight connections between all 3 flights - got our exercise running (quickly) to make flights - One thing we could agree on for sure - showers were in order...but not to be.
A few highlights:
- German teams singing (chanting?) team cheers on the flight from Frankfurt to Goteburg
- One lost wallet - sad news but all is well.
- The girls are staying in a small classroom with 19 mattresses on the floor and sharing 3 WCs with several international teams - Yikes!
- No evidence of other female teams at the school - nothing but fun for a chaperones!
- The showers are in another school building down the lane - should be interesting!
- Seeing and meeting teams of all ages from the U.S. Italy, Malaysia, Germany...lot's of requests for photo ops
- Several pieces of missing luggage, including a bike for which $270 was paid for it's safe delivery... the airline was kind enough to give a bag of toiletries - lotion is so helpful when you have no clothes.
- Italian boys team!!! need I say more?
